Is this an interview scam?

I got this email yesterday:

Dear Applicant,
We have received your application for the Remote Art Director role at RP3 Agency and are pleased to inform you that you have been shortlisted.

To proceed, kindly confirm your interest and acknowledge this email by replying ‘YES.’

Regards,
Kevin Green

I was excited for a second but the whole “reply YES to confirm your interest” thing is very weird. The other weird thing is that I remember applying to this job through LinkedIn a day or two before, but it isn’t on my list of applied or archived jobs. I went to the company’s website and they are a real agency that’s actually hiring an art director, but I definitely didn’t apply through their website. And the job isn’t posted on their LinkedIn page. Their website is rp3agency.com, but the email address is from rp3agencycareers.com which is just a blank white screen. I replied yes anyway because I wasn’t sure. He sent me this today:

As part of our selection protocol, we’ve included interview questions for you to review. There are no strictly “correct” answers, as the questions aim to evaluate your skills and approach for the Art Director (Remote) position. Please respond to these questions via email. Should you have any questions or need further information, feel free to reach out. Best of luck!

Please prioritize the review and response to the attached interview questions urgently. Reach out if you have any questions or need more information.

Best of luck in the process.

Regards,
Kevin Green

The interview questions he is referring to are in an attached PDF. It looks legitimate enough – it’s nicely formatted with no spelling errors or anything. It includes a list of responsibilities + qualifications at the end, which are pretty typical for an art director/graphic designer role, but they aren’t worded exactly the same and it doesn’t include some details that are on the website. I was thinking it could just be an old description or shortened to keep it on one page, but the PDF says “Experience in graphic design with a supporting portfolio, more education, or industry-specific knowledge may be required.” It’s very strange that it says “may be required” because all three of those things are 100% required. Also weird they sent it on a Saturday, and that he wants me to respond urgently.

The website only shows employees in upper management, and there’s no Kevin Green in their employees on LinkedIn. I looked up both domains on Whois and they aren’t from the same domain provider. Also the company is based in Maryland and the registrant for rp3agencycareers.com is from Arizona – but they are a partially remote company so that’s not necessarily a red flag.

It does kinda seem like a scam but I’m not sure that any of these things are definitive? Has anyone had a similar experience?
