Trying for a Job at McDonald's. Is this Resume good? I NEED this job. (California, USA)

Hello all. My name is Junel and I am a person living in California. Recently, the minimum wage for fast food places in my state has jumped to $20/hr, which is two dollars more per hour than what I am currently working as someone working in a group home. I did the math and I could be making the same amount of money I make at my group home working LESS hours at a fast food business. For comparison, I work 32 hours a week. To make the same amount at McDonald’s, I just have to work 28 hours a week. That’s incredibly attractive.

Right now, I am going to school for my Master’s degree in social services, after which I might be able to get a job that matches my skillset and will pay me a liveable wage. But I cannot continue working this group home job while also doing graduate school. I’m already at an internship where I work with victims of sexual crimes. Two social service jobs is a lot, but when working with two super traumatized populations, that’s simply too much for me to bear. I need to leave immediately, and I mean that.

I applied to Taco Bell and In-N-Out with these same jobs listed, but the automatic kickback emails came from both places back to me. They said they’re looking for someone with more relevant experience or something like that, despite everything I listed. I can’t go back to the group home job for much longer. Being there has actually led to me going inpatient at a health facility for over a week because of how stressful it is. The job market is bad right now, and I know because I have been applying everywhere since November of 2023 and so far I have had NO job offers, whether I get an interview or not. I’ve applied for fast food, retail, social service jobs with other group homes, and several other places that said they were hiring. Every single time, I was turned away without any good reason in my opinion.

I have a walk-in interview with McDonald’s on Sunday afternoon. The hiring manager says I do not need to bring anything with me, but just to be prepared, I want to have my resume and a copy of my schedule of availability onhand. I have a list of references if he needs that, but I’ll keep that on my phone to avoid looking too organized or professional for a job at McDonald’s (apparently being overqualified is a thing, even with fast food). I could also simply keep a copy of my resume on my phone to send if requested, but I’m nervous that if I’m reading off my phone, that will come across as being unprofessional too.

I need advice and will ask in other relevant subreddits too. How can I do my absolute best to obtain a job at McDonald’s? This honestly feels like it might be my last chance and I’m terrified.
