A summary of the job hunt rn

Recently redid my resume so I’ve been having better luck at getting interviews. I just cannot for the life of me get past the interview phase.

Currently I’m a student, going twice a week to my local community college. I soon will have an associate’s in General Studies at the end of this year and have applied for a certificate program for Medical Laboratory Assisting.

Been at my current part-time job in retail (Jewelry, hourly—not commission) for four years and they’ve denied my annual raise over not making sales quotas and some tardies. Which I am improving on the tardies and acknowledge that’s on me. However, for the sales portion, economy bad = people don’t want to buy frivolous jewelry that they don’t need. And I am less involved with manning the front of the store because I am work in repairs and polishing majority of my shifts since they haven’t replaced our bench manager.

I was tasked with curating supply orders because majority of management can’t be bothered to do it and has never worked in this department. Despite not being eligible for a promotion or a raise, I’m qualified to do this work beyond my job title but this was not enough to overshadow my shortcomings.

The interactions that I’ve had in the past year:

March: got a phone interview from a bank job that I applied in October of last year. Recruiter dropped me after they filled me in on the position and it was full time and I informed them that I was in school.

Summer:

• applied to a few positions here and there at a grocery store (not Aldi’s). Only got a single call while I was at work with no voicemail, no callback number, and now everything I apply to at that store gets rejected.

•since I have an interest into going to healthcare (not nursing). I looked for any entry healthcare jobs that didn’t require any experience. As my transcript and resume don’t reflect that interest, it’s been an undertaking. But I did find a dialysis place. Did the assessment and a recruiter reached out for a call. Let him know of my availability and said that they could work with that and said let’s do a call for next week. Never heard anything for two weeks and emailed them. Nada.

• Had a family friend who said that their parent company they work for needed jeweler apprentices. Redid my resume and sent in with my reference. Less than a week later, I got a call from the store manager to do a bench test. Sent in some photos via text and email of my work. Ghosted.

• Aldi’s:

I’ve applied to them before but with an older resume. Redone it now and am able to get into these group interviews. I went to one and it was a tour of the store and was told they’d reach out for individual interviews. Got my rejection letter today without an interview.

Today I went to a different store’s group tour to which they cancelled and then rejected me.
