Hey guys, I’m back again with a new update! So, last weekend my friends and I decided to make the most of the last few summer days and chose to drive to Wildwood, New Jersey. We’d been talking about taking a short trip for weeks and with the changing seasons it felt like the perfect time to catch some sun and sea before fall fully settled in. Here’s how our adventure went down!
We rented a car for the trip which turned out to be a smart move. The drive from Philly to Wildwood took about an hour and a half, and it flew by with good music, some spontaneous car karaoke and a few snacks to keep us going. It was nice to leave the city behind and hit the open road, knowing that a relaxing weekend by the ocean awaited us. We stayed at this seaside motel that had a simple no-frills vibe but was just what we needed for a beach weekend. It wasn’t fancy but it was cozy and you could hear the waves crashing from our room. After checking in we dropped our bags and headed out right away to see what Wildwood had to offer, eager to make the most of our time their.
One of the highlights of our trip was definitely the “Oktoberfest” event that was happening on the pier. The whole area was buzzing with energy, bright lights, lively music and the mouthwatering scent of carnival food everywhere. We couldn’t resist hopping on the roller coaster which gave us a thrilling view of the ocean as we zoomed through the twists and turns. After the ride I ate like a little kid, indulging in some classic chicken fingers and fries. The combination of the cool breeze, tasty bites and the adrenaline rush made it such a memorable experience. After the “Oktoberfest” fun, we took a chill stroll along the famous Wildwood boardwalk, exploring arcades, souvenir shops, and those little snack stands that serve up everything from saltwater taffy to fried Oreos. We had a blast just goofing around, trying on all sorts of ridiculous hats in the souvenir shops. From oversized sun hats to goofy, neon caps, we couldn’t stop laughing as we each found the silliest hat that matched our personalities. It was such a simple thing, but just having fun with the girls made it one of the best parts of the day. I even managed to score a cozy sweater for just $10, a perfect find for those cooler beachside evenings.
On Saturday evening after all the excitement of the boardwalk, we decided to wind down by making some bracelets on the beach. There’s something so calming about just sitting on the sand with friends, listening to the waves crash while working on a little DIY project. The sun was starting to set casting this gorgeous pink-orange glow over the water and it felt like the kind of moment you wish you could bottle up and keep forever. We even made matching bracelets as a little keepsake from the trip, a perfect way to wrap up the day.
Sunday morning was all about soaking up the last of the sun. We brought our towels and some books down to the beach and for a while it was perfect just lounging around, enjoying the warmth and letting the sound of the waves wash over us. After a few hours we decided to try playing some volleyball but it turned out to be way too windy. The ball kept flying in every direction except where we wanted it to go and after a few failed attempts, we called it quits. Since the wind made it a little less ideal to stay out we decided to head back home a bit earlier than planned. But of course we made a few detours along the way.
On our way back to Philly we swung by Ross and Marshall’s where we had one last chance to hunt for bargains. I ended up finding a pair of Tommy Hilfiger sneakers for just $15, definitely a win in my book! We all left with a little something making the drive back feel like an even sweeter ending to our trip.
Overall our weekend in Wildwood was exactly what we needed. It was a mix of adventure and relaxation with just enough time to explore, soak up some sun and enjoy each other’s company. Sometimes it’s the short trips that leave the biggest impact and this one will definitely be a memory we talk about for a long time. If you’re looking for a quick getaway with friends, Wildwood, New Jersey, might just be the place to check out before the weather turns cold.
Until next time stay tuned for more updates and travel stories!
