ASPSF Welcomes Angela Thomas as Newest Team Member

Nonprofit Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is pleased to announce the addition of Angela Thomas to its team.

A West Memphis native and dedicated community advocate, Thomas joins ASPSF with a deep passion for supporting single parents as they pursue higher education and career advancement. Jan. 13 was her first day as Program Manager for ASPSF’s East Region, which includes Crittenden, Cross, Lee, Monroe, Phillips, Prairie, and St. Francis counties.

Thomas brings a diverse background in education, corporate, and government sectors. She previously served as a Data Analyst/IT professional for the city of West Memphis. Before transitioning into government, she spent 18 years in the corporate world and began her career in early childhood development. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration.

In her role as an ASPSF Program Manager, Thomas will recruit new applicants, help single parent students apply for the scholarship, mentor recipients, host scholarship award ceremonies, plan professional development workshops, and manage volunteers who support the scholarship program.

“I am drawn to this work because I am a single mom, and I can relate to the challenges of working and going to school and having a family,” Thomas said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to help single parents, acknowledge their efforts, and make an impact in their lives.”

Chief Program Officer LaCresha Newton expressed excitement about Thomas joining ASPSF.

“Angela’s unique blend of experience, dedication, and personal connection to our mission makes her a tremendous asset to our team,” Newton said. “Her commitment to community service and her understanding of the challenges single parents face will undoubtedly strengthen our impact across Arkansas.”

Thomas is actively involved in organizations such as Keep West Memphis Beautiful, Citizens for Change, and DeltaArts, where she served as board president. Thomas moved to West Memphis from Phoenix in 2019, with her daughter. In their free time, they enjoy the theater, vintage shopping, painting, karaoke, and volunteering.

ASPSF is excited to welcome Thomas and looks forward to the contributions she will make in advancing the organization’s mission to empower single parents through education and career development.
