How to write a powerful career change resume

Most people don’t like writing a resume at the best of times.

But when you want to write a resume that will help you make a career change, the idea of writing that career change resume can stop you in your tracks and you can end up staying stuck.

Now, I’m not you and sitting in your brain space. But here’s what I suspect is going on there.

You’re thinking:

1) What skills do I have that are truly transferable?
2) Should I make a coffee?
3) How do my transferable skills make me a BETTER applicant than someone already doing the job?
4) When did I last call Mum?
5) What do I say to convince someone I’m really serious about making a change?
6) What did I say in that email?
7) Am I serious about making a change?
8) Wonder how many likes my insta post got?
9) What happens if I leave chunks of my experience out, will I get found out?
10) What’s for lunch?
11) How do I avoid going too far back in salary?
12) Did I turn the iron off?
13) Who’s going to pay me what I am worth?
14) Am I procrastinating?
15) Am I going to sound like I’m big noting myself if I say I am great at this?
16) Arrrgh all too hard, why would anyone hire me, what’s in the fridge?

So questions 2), 4), 6), 8), 10), 12), 14) and 16) are questions coming from your lizard brain and designed to help you procrastinate and keep you feeling safe.

That’s OK and perfectly normal.
