I quit my job after barely 3 weeks. The job description was for sales and mentioned how much commission opportunities there was. 19 an hour plus commission. (Not bad). So i started the training ready to get goin and slowly found out that the area that I am in, about 65% of the city already had the product that we would be selling (internet, cable, and home phone service). I really got red flags when there was ZERO mention of commission structure pay or talks of commission at all by anyone. Not the hiring manager, not the trainer, not any co workers that have been there for a long time. It made me realize the commission is either almost non existent, or terrible. If it was that much opportunity/money making you would think people would bring it up to motivate you/pump you up. But nothing. Then i found out i would be spending at least half of my day helping existing customers with STUPID, IDIOTIC billing questions/services (mainly old people who dont know how to use auto pay or electronic billing on their phone/computer). So i would be providing straight customer service with no opportunity to sell them any products because they already have the services, and would make it our problem to fix it for them. Basically what im saying is i didn’t pick a sales job to just make hourly. I mean shit i think the average commission for employees is like 4-5 grand a year. I needed the money so i stuck around for the whole pay period, and would have stuck around for another one but i was scheduled to start hitting the floor and dealing with the bs like 5 days later. So i ended my day, texted my boss and said i wouldn’t be returning. Funny because i was in a hiring group with one other guy, and he ended leaving on the 3rd day. I suspect because he saw how inaccurate and bullshit the actual job was compared to how great they made it sound on the description. Maybe be more truthful on your description and you wont lose the whole hiring class and have to restart. Just so irritating. I want opportunity. I want my main focus to be selling something to customers. This customer service only stuff just pissed me the hell off. Didn’t even put a 2 week notice in (other guy didn’t either). They dont deserve it after wasting my time. My last job i was clearing 5500+ per month and about 3 grand of it being commission. I controlled my paychecks. Dont really have that opportunity at this place. Onto the next now, firing out applications to HOPEFULLY truthful companies.
