I started working for a company called LKQ before covid-19. I started off as a driver delivering auto parts and worked my way up into warehouse manager position. In the beginning I was contracted through a labor force and was being paid $15 per hour. I was told that once hired on, my starting pay will be $15 per hour and annual raises. Covid happened half the people left or furlough. My boss came to me with the hire packet already flipped to the signature page asking me to join full time with the company. I felt confident and didn’t bother reading the packet because it was a thick read. I shortly found out after my first year raise that I was being paid $14 per hour and I was training new drivers that were starting $1-$2 more than me. I brought this issue to my supervisor numerous occasions and was constantly told there is nothing they can do. “If you need more money: increase your 401k% and work on weekends ” I already averaged 120 hours biweekly and was to the point where I only got to see my wife and family on the weekends. The company that I was contracted out through was bought out by hirequest so I had get them to dig up pay documents as well as contacting HR to get my first week paystub. I took all this to a lawyer for to see if that would help. Not at all, I missed statue of limitations 4 years ago and the signed the hire package sealed the deal. During this time LKQ had a CFO change and brought over keystone execs that caused a 1.5 billion oopsie. The consequence to that was a nation wide 14% employee reduction. I lost most my employees and was stuck with dealing with way more workloads at the same pay for years. During these years I had to suffer with nasty emails from my regional to hunt down missing parts that for somereason are not on the shelf. After doing excel spread sheets tracking patterns and times of these missing parts I concluded that there was a thief. One lucky day one of my better employees who was in charge of motors told that a $10k Cummings motor he placed on the shelf friday is now gone Monday. I went through the cameras and found it was a fellow manager with another employee from the yard location with keys to my warehouse. They have been coming in after hours on the weekends for years. I brought all this information to my regional and he told me that there was not enough evidence to act on. Shortly after the thief manager was arrested for violating his community control and sentenced to prison. I found out in management conference they were attempting to cover up his arrest and falsely put him on FMLA so he can keep his position when he is released. Their plan for FMLA fell through and they promoted his accomplice into a yard management position with spare keys to the warehouse. I told them Monday I want my pay increased or I resign… I didn’t have a back up plan, I have sent resumes and applied to atleast 30 different warehouse type jobs last week and only one interview so far. I need advice, if there is anything I can do? I have never went without a job before and I am becoming increasingly depressed dwelling what I gave up and what I went through. submitted by /u/Masonic_Decepti0n |
