Wow, what a week it’s been! As an exchange student from Monaco at Drexel University, I’ve been loving my time in Philadelphia, but midterm week really took a toll on me.
Leading up to the midterms, the campus vibe changed completely. Everywhere I looked, students were buried in textbooks or gathered in study groups, trying to cram as much information as possible. I jumped right into the hustle, living off coffee and snacks to keep my energy up while I tackled my exam prep. It felt like everyone around me was in the same boat, and it was a little comforting knowing I wasn’t alone in this chaos.
Midterms at Drexel are no joke. I’m taking classes like Public Relations and International Business, and each one has its own way of testing us. The diversity in teaching styles is great, but it definitely made studying feel a bit overwhelming at times. I found myself jumping from one subject to another, trying to keep track of all the different formats and requirements. My days were packed with lectures, and my nights turned into long study sessions, filled with notes and flashcards, all while trying to maintain a bit of a social life.
Even though it was stressful, I found a lot of support among my fellow students. Group study sessions turned into moments where we could share tips and help each other out. It was great to bond over our struggles while learning a bit about each other’s backgrounds, too. I loved hearing stories about life in the U.S. while sharing what it’s like back in Monaco. We’d take breaks, and snack on whatever we could find, and it made the whole experience feel a bit more manageable.
Finally, when the midterms wrapped up, I felt such a huge sense of relief. It was a tough week, but I realized how much I’ve grown and adapted to this new environment. I’ve learned to prioritize my time and manage stress in ways I hadn’t before. Now that the exams are behind me, I’m looking forward to exploring more of what Philly has to offer, catching up with friends, and diving back into my studies with a fresh perspective.
Overall, I’m excited for the rest of my exchange experience. Here’s to more adventures, discoveries, and hopefully fewer late nights spent studying! I can’t wait to see what the next few weeks will bring.
