If you think Amsterdam holds the title for Europe’s most picturesque canals, think again! I personally believe Bruges is equally deserving of that crown. Located in northwest Belgium, this city is often referred to as the “Venice of the North,” captivating visitors with its serene waterways, medieval buildings, and timeless appeal. Whether you’re strolling down its cobblestone streets or cycling along its canals, Bruges is a city that transports you to the past.
Despite its compact size, Bruges is brimming with photogenic landmarks. The iconic Belfry of Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, towers over the Market Square offering panoramic views of the city. The 14th-century Stadhuis (City Hall) stands as a testament to the city’s rich history and architectural elegance. Each corner and alleyway is packed with picturesque details—perfect for photographers and those simply looking to immerse themselves in the atmosphere.
One of the best ways to explore Bruges is on foot or by bike. Its cobbled streets wind through hidden squares, quiet canals, and medieval courtyards that seem straight out of a fairy tale.
