The following text is a transcript of the actual webinar that you can view here: https://thestudyabroadportal.com/open-day/study-business-management-and-computer-science-at-ucll-in-leuven-top-50-best-student-city-for-international-students/
Welcome to the webinar with UCLL about the Business Management program. We’ll make it a fun and interactive session.
And we’ll start off with Lotte.
Thank you, Lotte, go ahead and let us know a bit about yourself.
Hello everyone. I am Lotte, and I’m a third-year student in international business vendors and marketing here in Belgium. Now if you hear a little bit of background noise, I am currently on campus. I hope you’re not bothered, but you can already get a little view of the campus.
As I mentioned, I’m a third-year student. In some way, we are at opposite ends of the line—you are choosing a degree, and I will be finishing mine soon. That means I want to share some of my experiences, hoping it might help you in finding the right degree.
When I look at the past two years, I think there are three things key to studying at UCLL.
The first is that UCLL offers a practical approach. This means you get a lot of hands-on experience. Your points aren’t just based on exams. You do exercises in class and group work, which is really nice. Let’s be honest—we all forget things sometimes. But when I think back to an assignment I did, it helps me recall what I need for an exam.
The hands-on approach also helps on the job market. You don’t just know the theory; you’ve had the opportunity to apply it in a safe environment where you can make mistakes. Employers recognize this.
The second reason UCLL might be a good fit is its international environment. For example, my class has students from 14 different nationalities—not just Europe but also Japan, Vietnam, Venezuela, Canada, and more. Everyone left their home to build a new life here, which makes people more open to connecting with each other.
Leuven is a wonderful city—a mix of city life and a close-knit community. Everything is close by, so after school, it’s easy to hang out with friends, play pool, or study together in the library.
The third thing I love about UCLL is that it offers opportunities beyond the degree. Over the past years, I’ve realized I want to work in the automotive industry. Last year, I participated in a marketing competition for Mercedes-Benz in Germany. This summer, I visited the Hyundai factory in South Korea.
It doesn’t matter what your passion is—cosmetics, tech, or anything else. UCLL provides many opportunities to help you shape your future.
If you have more questions, you can ask them during the Q&A. For now, I’d like to pass the stage to Craig.
Thanks, Lotte. That was very well said.
Hello everyone, my name is Jayden. I feel Lotte made some great points. For a bit about myself, I am an alumnus of UCLL. I just graduated this past June as part of the BME program—business management and marketing—with the international track.
I’m from the United States, and I’ve been living and studying in Europe for the past three years. The BME program lets you switch countries each year. My first year was in Spain, studying in Barcelona. In my second year, I studied in Leuven, Belgium, at the UCLL main campus. And in my third year, I went to France.
The program includes a four-month internship, which prepared me with professional experience. For instance, I was able to intern in Belgium, which gave me hands-on industry insight.
