“The top floor of a café called Zghairon (صغيرون) in West Al-Balad. I’ve found that whenever I come here, I’m basically the only one on the top floor, which makes it a great place to study. It has three well-designed rooms including comfortable sofas, and some outdoor seating with a rooftop view. The staff is really nice, and it’s also a great place to hang out with friends as they have cards and backgammon available.”

2. Rumi CaféInstagram

“With some of the best hot chocolate in the city (at least I think so!), رومي كافيه (Rumi Café) is a relaxing place to either study your Arabic or meet up with friends to grab some coffee. The servers and waitresses were also really patient with me and my attempts at speaking in Arabic!”

3. Manara CaféInstagram

“After the short walk around the city, some students decided to meet up in a café (Manara Café) to study. The rest of us also stopped at this café to grab a drink and look at more houses from their balcony. This had felt like a full circle moment, where just a few years ago, I was standing at the same balcony shortly after Manara opened up.”

“There I can choose my own little private cubicle for long-study sessions and order as many cappuccinos as I want under the low-cost entrée fee of 3 dinars.”

“A coffee next to Fairuz and Umm kulthum at Books@Cafe, my favorite coffee and book  shop in Amman. I love getting to research ideas for Arabic presentations that I am interested in  from my daily life: history, art, and music.”

5. 7 Views Restaurant & CaféInstagram

“Once I first tried mana’ish zaatar (مناقيش زعتر) in Jordan, I was hooked. Here I got it at the rooftop 7 Views Café in Al Swaifyeh (الصويفية). This café is right by the CET Center, so it’s also a great place to go and study after classes. Food here is a bit on the pricier side, but there are places along the street where you could get mana’ish zaatar for around $0.50 JD.”
