A friend of mine is trying to apply for this online job, and it apparently has to do with an Ubereats like delivery system. Pretty vague, tbh. However, they are starting to believe that it’s shady and could be a sort of scamming based system. I will try to summarize the details, but be warned that I am quite confused with what my friend is detailing.
- Met through Discord server. The guy says it’s commissioned based. No links to the company website or such. Said job is apparently a sort of ordering delivery thing (sorry, I’m not aware of the correct term)
- Some of the details were forgotten because after almost of month of radio silence. According to my friend, they were required to download Gologin, Mullvad VPN and a sort of Android Emulator. My friend said that their working relative thought that the radio silence (due to the hiring guy having technical difficulties on their systems) was unprofessional and made it look like the job was unreliable. An additional note for the GoLogin thing was that it wasn’t a permanent work account but a sort of throw-away account that would be replaced once the trial was done.
- A couple days ago, my friend contacted again but now the system is quite different now. Only GoLogin is required.
- My friend was sent a training video and it is quite confusing. The video seemed like it skipped to several minutes and goes straight to the ordering process. The website is a apparently Ubereats. The video shows an order being placed, but for some reason the next step is cancelling said ordering. They go to the help page and they pick “Help with Pick-up order”. Then they open a second tab which is postmates, then back to the Ubereats tab where it has something about cancelling and getting a promo of $20 from the Help thing. Then adding it to this Uber Wallet and then making a delivery order to their customer set to some delivery options like Priority or Standard.
- Admittedly, this is all so confusing and I wish they would ask themselves. But hopefully from what I am summarizing, you can hopefully piece things together and see if this is legit or some sort of scamming group. It sounds almost like a call center scammer thing going on with google or amazon wallet or something.
Thanks! Already asked this question in another reddit, and two have pointed out that it is definitely a scam. Still, I want second opinions so that my friend can be fully informed.
