University of Birmingham launches DeepMind Scholarship

The School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham is thrilled to announce two scholarships generously funded by DeepMind, that are open to applicants currently holding either a conditional offer or unconditional offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at our UK Edgbaston campus to apply for. 

The University of Birmingham has officially opened applications for the prestigious DeepMind Scholarship, providing significant financial support, mentorship, and networking opportunities to students from underrepresented backgrounds who are pursuing studies in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. The scholarship program, launched in collaboration with DeepMind, aims to nurture the next generation of AI leaders and innovators.

Value of the Award

The Total value of the scholarship is £56,525. Lets see how it is distributed:

  • International tuition fees – £31,410 
  • A maintenance grant of £19,345 (for cost of living purpose), paid in instalments over the duration of the course. 
  • Grant of up to £2,200 to attend an international conference in the field of AI and/or Machine Learning during the course as well 
  • £1,700 towards purchase of essential equipment (such as laptop etc.).
  • £1,870 to cover the relocation expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Should be female.
  • Should provide proof that they would not be able to take up the offer of admission without financial assistance
  • Have already received a conditional/unconditional offer to study the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Birmingham
  • Classified as an international student for fee paying purposes

Applications will be considered by a selection panel at the School of Computer Science and shortlisted based on the above eligibility criteria.

How to Apply

 Only the offer holders of the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can apply for this Scholarship. Once you have received an offer from our central Admissions Office, you will be sent an email with a direct application link, in order to apply for the DeepMind scholarship.

The final application deadline for the scholarship will be Sunday 21st July 2024. Applications will be shortlisted and suitable candidates contacted for interview at the end of July 2024.  Further information will be shared directly with offer holders regarding the process.
