1) Completed and Signed Application Form

You need to provide all the following information:

• Full Name
• Date of Birth
• Email Address
• Current Address
• Marital Status
• Educational Background (previous schools and degrees)
• Travel History (previous visits to Schengen Area countries)
• Details of your stay in Germany (purpose, planned duration)

2) Completed Declaration

You need to fill out another form, available on the German Missions in India website, with additional information like –

3) Valid Passport

Every student needs to have a valid passport with

• A minimum of 2 free pages
• An A4 copy of its data page

Your passport is valid only if issued within the last ten years. The expiration date must be no earlier than a year from the day of application.

4) Biometric Photos

You need to provide 3 biometric photos, which are

• Not older than half a year.
• The size should be 35(W) x 45(H)
• Your face should be clearly visible and must occupy 70-80% of the frame.
• There should not be any shadows in the background.
• The Background must be bright and unicolored, preferably in neutral grey.

5) Acceptance Letter from a German University

A Letter of acceptance is a document that you will receive from the university you applied for. It suggests that your study application was successful and you are offered a place in the program.

• Personal details
• University and study program information
• Last date for confirming the acceptance of the offer.
• Deadline details for paying the semester contribution. (The fee usually ranges between 200-400 Euros)

6) APS Certificate

Issued by APS India, this APS certificate confirms that your documents are authentic and valid. It even confirms that you are eligible to study in Germany.

7) Statement of Purpose

It is a mandatory application document that is requested by the German Missions in India. In this document, every prospective Indian student needs to demonstrate their motivation and make a formal request for their student visa.

8) Details of Financial Resources

You will need to prove that you can cover all the living costs in Germany. These costs will include accommodation, health insurance, and more. You need to provide 934 Euros per month or 11,208 Euros per year.

9) Resume

You need to have certificates like TOEFL and IELTS or Goethe and OSD (for German-taught study programs).

11) Preliminary Health Insurance

Every student needs to have insurance that covers the first three months in Germany. Usually, your travel insurance is enough to suffice this requirement. Once in Germany, you will have to get an insurance plan for the rest of your stay.

12) Demand Draft
