I got a B.A back in 2021 and I’ve been trying to get a full-time job related to my degree. I was working during college and after college. It’s only a part-time retail gig and the hours have been getting cut since last year due to my old manager leaving and the company deciding to cut peoples hours off. Anyways I’ve been applying to jobs left and right and I’m either getting rejected from the position/ Don’t hear anything back from the position/ or do an interview and get ghosted afterwards. Back in early May I applied for a Police Clerk Position everything went well the week after I did the background check with the investigator and the person told me that I would hear back from them in two days. Well, it’s been 8 weeks, and I haven’t heard anything back from them. I’ve called the PD multiple times, and they keep saying that the person who is in charge of the hiring isn’t in office and I left two voice messages and still nothing. I’ve emailed him about 3 times and still nothing.
This isn’t new last Oct I applied for a Clerk Position, and I did the interview and when I was asking some questions I asked when applicants can hear back from the position, they said less than a week and guess what one week became 10 weeks until I heard back from them, and I got rejected from the position. I emailed them after the first week and they said they would reach out in Early Nov and guess what I waited, and nothing happened they did this BS two other times of me trying to contact them. I would contact them once every two weeks until week 10 they emailed me saying I didn’t get the position.
WTF is going on in the job market right now this is such bullshit I’m getting sick and tired of these employers and these stupid requirements that they are doing. I applied for a Full-Time Police Clerk job at a university they wanted a B.A along with 2-4 of work experience working as a clerk and some supervisor experience and they would only pay $18.00 dollars an hour and they wanted to do multiple interviews. This is insane not only is the pay low but you have to do multiple interviews for such a low paying job that wants a lot from you. Got rejected from that position didn’t make it to the second phase and apparently these guys opened up the position after hiring somebody (Probably quit the first week on the job)
I have a part-time job at a university, but I barely get any hours. I’m supposed to get 29.9 hours a week however that hasn’t been the case I’ve been getting screwed over and after a month starting the position they only gave me 5 hours for a whole month until I got back to 23 hours, but this isn’t to live off of. I’ve been applying to jobs on Indeed and company’s websites and nothing yet.
My back up plan was getting into IT I do have experience and is currently studying for the A+ certification however the CS and IT fields are pretty terrible right now a lot of grads can’t find jobs and I’m hearing it’s getting hard to get helpdesk jobs, so my backup plan is screwed
I really don’t know what to do now I’m getting nowhere despite me applying and trying to get my name out there I do have 5 years of work experience working as a Admin Assistant/Library Assistant/IT back in college
