Job Overview
The Account Manager will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of income tax, GST, TDS, Tally entries, ESI work, and all aspects of financial accounting. This role demands a high level of accuracy, analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management and Reporting
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of the company’s annual budget and develop financial forecasts to aid in decision-making.
- Accounts Receivable and Payable: Solely responsible for entire accounts payable and receivable. Oversee pre-billing checks, invoicing, billing installments, and customer accounts. Ensure proper coding for financial reporting and manage credit notes.
- Maintenance of Books of Accounts: Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of all financial records.
2. Taxation Compliance
- Income Tax: Ensure compliance with all income tax regulations, timely filing of returns, and develop tax planning strategies. Liaise with tax authorities for audits and queries.
- Goods and Services Tax (GST): Ensure accurate calculation and timely payment of GST. Prepare and file GST R1 & 3B returns, handle GST audits, and manage GST registration. Manage purchase and sale invoice entries for GST compliance and generate E-way bills.
- Tax Deducted at Source (TDS): Ensure accurate deduction and timely deposit of TDS, file TDS returns, and issue TDS certificates to vendors and contractors.
- Income Tax Returns (ITR): Prepare and file ITR accurately and on time.
3. Bank Reconciliation
- Bank Account Management: Perform monthly bank reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and monitor cash flows to ensure adequate cash reserves.
- Bank Reconciliation Statements: Reconcile all bank statements of expenses accurately.
4. Internal Controls and Compliance
- Internal Controls: Develop and implement robust internal control systems, conduct regular audits, and ensure compliance with established controls and procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on financial regulations and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements. Develop and update financial policies and procedures.
- Statutory and Internal Audits: Coordinate and liaise with auditors, ensuring compliance and timely completion of audits.
5. Reporting and MIS
- Financial Reports: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements. Generate key performance indicators and ad-hoc financial reports.
- Management Information Systems (MIS): Preparation of MIS and pre-operational expense reports.
6. Vendor and Material Management
- Vendor Reconciliation: Conduct regular vendor reconciliation to ensure accuracy and address discrepancies.
- Material Management: Prepare and maintain site-wise costing and manage material requisition and consumption.
7. Payroll and Compliance
- Payroll Processing: Collaborate with HR for timely and accurate payroll processing, including tax-related and compliance calculations.
- Employee State Insurance (ESI): Manage ESI compliance and related documentation.
8. Journal Entries and Bookkeeping
- Journal Entries: Perform and review journal entries for various accounting transactions.
- Bookkeeping: Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of all financial records.
9. General Ledger and Closing
- General Ledger: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Month-End and Year-End Closing: Oversee the closing process, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and accurately presented.
10. Miscellaneous Responsibilities
- Cash Flow Management: Prepare and analyze cash flow statements and projections.
- Fixed Assets Management: Maintain the fixed assets register and manage depreciation calculations.
- Liaison with Banks: Manage relationships and liaise with banks for financial transactions.
- Support Audits: Assist in statutory, internal, and stock audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit inquiries.
- Regulatory Filings: Manage and ensure timely filing of all regulatory returns and forms, including online T-2 forms and WCT returns.
Additional Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Ensure timely and accurate payment as per the payment cycle. Post and authorize all invoices and payments. Scrutiny of accounts, supervision of staff advances, and travel advances.
- Reconciliation: Regular review and reconciliation of all advances, prepaid expenses, and payables. Preparation of all schedules and reconciliations related to AP to support monthly and yearly financials.
- Costing: Prepare and maintain site-wise costing.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure correct deduction of TDS and service tax. Check supporting documents for all payments, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors for account audits.
- Bank Liaison: Regular coordination and liaison with the bank for financial matters.
- Month-End Closing: Ensure accurate month-end closing and preparation of MIS and pre-operational expense reports.
- Balance Sheet Finalization: Assist in balance sheet finalization and preparation as per company act.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CA, CPA) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial management, preferably within the construction industry.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) are highly desirable.
2. Technical Skills
- Taxation Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of income tax, GST, TDS, and other relevant tax regulations.
- Financial Software: Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, such as Tally,
- MS Office: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
3. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
- Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Problem-Solving: Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
